David shares about his experiences in the foster family: “So I can move freely anywhere - anywhere. Don't worry if I've looked in somewhere, in Zimmer. But then everyone said, my foster parents and siblings, I don't have to ask. I can drink when I'm thirsty. And that was like a miracle for me, I couldn't believe it, I could move around freely, my wishes and decisions were somehow accepted here and they wanted to know how I was doing. I would never have thought ... " David, 8 years old, has lived with the W. Not all children can live with their families at all times. Foster children mostly come from families in which the parents do not do justice to their role as caring, protective parents. Often, for various reasons - temporarily or permanently - they are unable to give their children what they need for healthy development. A family offers a manageable everyday framework: a trusted group of people, a regular daily routine, meals together, consolation in case of grief, child-friendly leisure activities and calming bedtime. In addition to these basic conditions for stabilization, foster parents can cater to the very special needs of a child. Foster children are not adopted children. Even if they live in a different family permanently, the family relationships remain. Foster children cannot live with their families. Foster children need reliability and a home. Foster children have two families.
