Hegener KG in Gladbeck. In 1904 August Hegener KG was officially founded with an entry in the commercial register. The origin of the company was a pit timber trade that served the mining industry, which was still very active at the time. With the decline in mining activities and the associated structural change in the region, HOLZ HEGENER has also developed: In 1967 the company was taken over by Klaus and Norbert Backes and Karl-Heinz Böning. In 1970, the company relocated from Holunderweg to its current address in the "Stollenstraße" industrial estate. A planing mill was set up here with large imports from Sweden. In October 1970 we were able to set up one of the first home improvement centers. Gradually, the retail sales area was expanded to around 10,000 square meters and the range to more than 57,000 items - with a total operating area of ​​26,000 square meters.
