PepsiCo's roots go back to 1898 when Caleb Bradham, a pharmacist from New Bern, North Carolina, founded Pepsi-Cola and began offering it to customers. A lot has happened since then: Today, PepsiCo is one of the leading beverage and food companies in the world. Our global product range brings together a wide range - including 23 brands, such as Lay's, Doritos, Lipton, 7UP, Pepsi, Quaker, Gatorade and Tropicana, each of which has annual sales of more than 1 billion US dollars. In 2018, PepsiCo had net sales of more than $ 64 billion. In Germany, the PepsiCo story begins in 1946 with the construction of the first bottling plant in Aschaffenburg for distribution to American military and civilian units. Today around 500 employees make PepsiCo one of the leading providers of beverages and food in the DACH region. Our portfolio includes global, iconic brands such as Pepsi Cola and Lipton Ice Tea as well as the locally influenced products Schwip Schwap and Punica. We are also well positioned in the snack area. Our crisps and snacks brand Lay's, which was launched in Germany in 2016, is a growth driver in the snacks category and received the Best Brands Award in 2018. In Austria, however, Doritos is our growth driver in this category. With our 14 brands we have a place in the daily life of Germans. For them, we work day in and day out to improve our products and offer healthier options. Even today, 48% of our beverage portfolio is sugar-free.
