The CIT was officially born on July 26, 1934. The CIT's activities have been many and varied; so many that they have given for publication of a book, 'The Center for Initiatives and Tourism of Gran Canaria', published in 1994 by the Royal Economic Society of Friends of the Country of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. This summary is not exhaustive and is only intended to show the importance, both historical and present, of a private institution that has been concerned with ensuring the improvement of conditions in Gran Canaria and its capital.
Thanks to their care, the foundations of our modern tourist development were created. Its work has not been to finance initiatives, but to carry out studies, analysis and proposals for improvement, as well as to monitor and alert to those issues of special strategic interest for the development, conservation and well-being of Gran Canaria.
